47 public universities did not meet the minimum for re-registration, the Education and Training Authority says

• 47 public universities, the autonomous Addis Ababa University among them, did not meet the minimum re-registration requirement in the renewal directive.
• The review took place in Sene 2018 E.C. (June and July 2026) and was based on the documents each university submitted.
• The universities asked for 40 more days, and the Authority gave them until Tikimt 30 to submit their documents.
• The Ethiopian Public Service University is the only one given a special arrangement in the process.

The report gives the new deadline as Tikimt 30, 2018 E.C., which is 9 November 2025. That date had already passed months before the Sene 2018 E.C. review, so it cannot be right as printed. It most likely means Tikimt 30, 2019 E.C. (9 November 2026). The report also calls the extension an extra 40 days. We repeat both as they were published until the Authority states the date itself.

The report does not say that any university will close, stop admitting students or lose a programme, and it does not say that any student's studies are affected. What it describes is a paperwork review the universities have been given more time to complete. It does not say what happens to a university that misses the deadline.
